About This Spot
About 4300 feet ASL
Around the 14km marker on the Fly Hills logging road west of town.
Turn west off highway #1 onto Salmon river road. (look for skidoo rec signs)Travel about 3km turn right onto Christionson rd. staying left continue on up to the Fly Hills logging road. Km signs start at cattle gaurd at the end of pavement. At 1km is the skidoo parking lot. Luke's launch is a short 200-300 yard walk due east from the SE corner of the parking lot.
Continue on up to 7.5km to another parking lot. Again take the SE trail to the carpeted Fly Hills north launch. Have a look around then head on up to the Fly Hills south launch at 14km staying left at the fork at 12.5.
Park at the radio tower and find the quad trail over the bank and across the road (due south.)
If on Luke's launch look NE for a huge bolder the size of a small cabin. From here you can see launch if looking due east. The hayshed roof between the trees and the road and closest to the hill is the marker LZ being south of the shed.
Try soaring the small ridge at Luke's launch. From FlyHills north launch thermals out front are good but try following the road to the two small aspen groves to the south ( between 5 and 6km). It's always on there.
On any given flying day valley winds are almost always heading up the valley so aproach LZ from south or southwest is usual.
Takeoff altitude: 1188m
