Hohe Wand East

About This Spot
The other takeoff is the 'Suedstart' used for SE-S winds, a cliff launch just a few 100 m south of the Postl-Restaurant. You should know what you are doing if you launch there.
Hohe Wand is oriented SE and a rock cliff, so it is likely to produce good thermals all year round beginning in the mornings. It will often provide good lift until sundown.
It is rather difficult to leave the site for XC, some flatland flying will be involved no matter what.
Be aware of very high traffic on weekends. There will be paragliders, hang gliders, sailplanes and model aircraft sharing the same lift band!
Takeoff altitude: 920m

Access Notes
Take your car up the toll road (approx € 3 per day) and park it at the 'Gasthof Postl' car park. Give others a ride up if you can. Usually you'd hitch hike back up after landing on one of the main LZ. No big deal, it's just you being the 'other' now. You can also walk the 'Völlerin-Steig' in about an hour but need good shoes for this. On XC you will very likely get a lift from the local people, they are indeed very friendly.
