About This Spot

Ensure you check-in with guest services prior to flying or contact the general manager if during off-season. HPAC insurance must be presented and site orientation completed. This is not a beginner site due to the distance to the LZ presently and the complications of the LZ (buildings, traffic, power lines). There are three launches. Two South Launches and a North Launch. To get to the North Launch (closest), take the chair lift and go right. It's right there on Dan's Descent. During skiing season, be sure to leave enough room when setting up your wing to allow skiers to pass by. To get to the south launch, go straight, then left when existing the chair lift. Hike up to the Observation Tower (about 5 minutes). The SouthEast launch (new) is directly below the tower. For the South Launch, follow the Lefty Loosey bike trail called down (2-3 minutes). You will walk right past the open open clear launch. Hard to miss.

This is not a beginner site. The LZ from South Launch is not directly visible and has a 6:1 glide ratio. New pilots or pilots on older wings should not fly here.

Mt. Sima is Yukon's newest HPAC Insured site and has taken a lot of energy to open the hill have have it approved for paragliding. Your support is appreciated. Consider getting a season pass and ensure the site regulations are followed.

Mt. Sima – Alpine Adventure Park may be open during the summer (TBD). The Park includes an Aerial Adventure Course and North America’s longest free run zip line. Mt. Sima offers Panoramic Chairlift rides which you can also take to the paragliding launch. During ski season, the lift runs regularly. In the summer season, contact guest services to coordinate a chair lift rude up with one of the Zip Line tours.

Known Hazards

Failure to abide by site regulations may result in the loss of Sima as a flying site. Site Regulations: Must check in at Guest Services prior to flying (no matter what season). They will inform lift operators and ski patrol you are flying. Proof of HPAC Membership/Insurance http://hpac.ca Only HPAC insurance is accepted due to insurance requirements. Agree to “no fly zone” near the lifts or lines. Under no circumstances are landings to be near the lifts. Safe altitude at at least 50' maintained above lifts and lines when flying. No speed-flying (for reasons above). HPAC Insurance will not cover Speed Flying. Have a local pilot give a site orientation. Get orientation about landing zone as it is very technical. It's recommended that an aircraft, rather than a figure-eight approach is best suited for LZ due to power lines, buildings, and traffic. This is not a beginner LZ. Also the LZ distance from the South Take-Off is significant. Older wings may have difficulty reaching the LZ. It is about a 6:1 ration from Take-Off to LZ. Ensure your wing is secure before going on chair-lift. Be careful of straps. Be ready to exit chairlift quickly. Lift operators will slow it down for you to disembark. Contact Air Traffic Control (867) 667-8426 prior to take-off.
